Commitment is hard for most of us; but recycling is one of those commitments that must be made by all. Our planet, mother earth, is experiencing a crises. We have exploited her goods and are still demanding more and more. Like a selfish and misbehaved child, we have caused our mother great pain. Her tears are filled with waste; her hands no longer produce enough food. We have covered her with filth, and drained her core. If 7 billion of us would recycle one thing per day, then the impact will be felt. Seven billion items, 365 days a year amounts to 2,555,000,000,000. I can’t even write that number in words. If we do this, just one piece a day, the world, our life giving rock, will be a better place for us and those to come. Like Darryl Cherney said, “I'm not an environmentalist. I'm an Earth warrior.” (Darryl Cherney, quoted in Smithsonian, April 1990. ) Please fight for the home that we all share.
